This late 20th-century still life by Armenian artist Caro Mekertchian depicts an assortment of flora including a striking red flower. There’s a dynamism to this work created through tension. The grounded flower protrudes, almost as if leaping towards the table, while the other elements jolt in response. It feels like an allegory. Interesting piece.
The painting was previously with a London gallery in the 1990s and bears a label.
