This light, flowing, mid-century oil painting by Swedish artist Bertil Gullander (1915-1999) captures the sweeping curve of a bright coastal view. It’s easy on eye and created with loose handling. The brushwork seems to echo the relaxed nature of the vista.
Gullander was born in Stockholm. His work is considered to be broadly inspired by the French impressionists. Aside from his career as a painter, he also produced 30 nature films for TV.
