This mid-20th-century cityscape by Swedish artist Axel Eriksson (1923-2010) depicts a broad pedestrianised thoroughfare within an array of modernist architecture. It feels somewhat idealised yet also dystopian. The bare trees jar against the cold planes of concrete and brick.
Eriksson studied at Valand's painting school in Gothenburg and spent most of his life in Gotland. He exhibited regularly and he’s represented at Mölndal's Hembygdsförening.
